The Weekend Update - We got "Booed"

After our big time the other night, we had a pretty low key weekend.  I love quiet weekends!

I think the biggest excitement around here was that we were "BOO"ed!"

Every Fall, our neighborhood has a tradition of doing a "Boo."  Basically, neighbors surprise each other with a pumpkin full of goodies.

The rules are easy - once you've been "BOO'ed," you have one day to fill two plastic pumpkins with treats and spread the Fall cheer to two more neighbors.  Of course, all of this has to be done on the sly!

After you're done, then hang your pumpkin on your mailbox.  By Halloween each year, our street is full of orange pumpkins and it just puts everyone in the best mood.  I'm not sure who loves it more, the kids or the adults!

Each pumpkin has a little poem with it that includes  instructions.  Here's the one that our neighborhood used  - (it was a little scary for young kids, so I made a couple of edits).

You've Been "BOO"ed!

The air is cool, the season Fall,
Soon Halloween will come to all.

The excitement comes when friends like you,
Copy this note and make it two.

We'll all have smiles upon our faces,
No one will know who "BOO"ed who's places!

Just one short day to work your spell,
Keep it secret, hide it well.

Please join the fun, the seasons here .
Just spread these "BOO's" and Autumn cheer.

Anniveraries, Tex Mex & U2

This is a big week for me and Big Daddy - it's the week of our wedding anniversary!

On our anniverary, I came home to  the BEST surprise - a dozen red roses and even better than that ... a CLEAN house!

Sister helped Big Daddy and she was so sweet ... she was practically waiting for me on the driveway when I got home to show me all of their hard work!  So cute!

Since having little ones, Big Daddy and I don't get out like we used to ... in fact, we've never really even left our peeps overnight.  But, we thought it was time and decided to do a test run for our anniversary.  (So grateful to my mom and sister for keeping our girls!)

So, we got a wild hair and went to see ...

U2!!!

I don't have a bucket list, but if I did, seeing U2 would definitely be on it!  The stadium where they played was open at the top, so we could see the stars while we enjoyed the concert.  Awesome!

The stage was crazy ... NASA helped with the design and it was a space station, complete with a disco ball on top!

There was a screen at the top that broadcast the concert 360 degrees, so there wasn't a bad seat in the house

Bono ... so good!

The Edge

They played all of my favorite songs, so I was one happy girl!  I thought "With or Without You" would be my favorite ... that was really, really good.  Bono used a lighted microphone that was a swing, too. (Okay, I realize that makes no sense, but it was crazy!)

But, I think a surprise and my favorite part of the show was when they played Amazing Grace.  Wow!  It was so beautiful and everyone was singing along ...

After the concert, one of the best parts of night, was getting to see my best friend and her husband!  We have been friends since kindergarten!  Wow!  So blessed to have her friendship!

Before heading home, Big Daddy and I hit a place we've heard a lot about ...

The creamy jalepeno sauce lived up to its repuation! Holy Cow that was good Tex Mex!  :)

What a great time ... it's amazing how just a little time away from the daily grind makes the laundry pile look a little smaller :)

The Weekend Update - Tissues and Tigers

We had a really quiet weekend, which actually ended up to be a blessing!

Looks like I spoke too soon when I said that Bitty Baby was on the mend.  She's still under the weather and it looks like I picked up her little cold, too.

I keep hoping there's a life rule that says mamas can't get sick when they take care of their sick little peeps :)

I really don't have too many pics for this post because we spent most of the weekend indoors.  It pretty much rained all weekend and we're still waiting for some Fall weather.  I think it's coming, though!

Saturday, we went to Home Depot and Lowe's to look for bamboo shades to finish the kitchen window.  We found out that our windows are off by about an inch from being a standard size - so that means special orders all the way around!  Now I think I remember why we've been living here awhile and still don't have shades on some of the windows. Ha!

I picked up a HUGE purple and yellow mum (for my Tigers!) at Home Depot.  It's so pretty and it was only $6.50.  I need to get a picture because it's full of blooms! We really had fun looking around in the stores  - so many fun things for home projects!

Saturday afternoon, Sister and I went to the pet store and picked up a couple of things for our pup, Toby.

A sassy new bed ...

And, a sassy new collar. We got him a Burbury-inspired one - a shout out to my love of all things British!

Saturday night, we watched the Tigers play #1 Florida.  It was a great game, but Florida won.  We play Auburn next on the 24th, so that should be a good one!  LSU and Auburn lost this weekend, so they'll both be huntin' for a win.  Hopefully, the purple and gold Tigers will win that one!

I spent most of the LSU game trying to figure out what Bible verse was on Tim Tebow's face this week.  It was

1 Thesselonians 5:18
"give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus"

I read an article that said that this verse was one of the most searched items on google during the LSU/Florida game.  Wow!  So awesome!

Sunday was definitely a day of rest.  I really wasn't feeling great, so thankfully, Big Daddy took kid and house duty and I was able to rest. THANK YOU!  I have a busy schedule this week, so that was such a blessing!

This was pretty much my view on Sunday ... what a treat!

I love the yearly Endless Yard Sale show on HGTV.  I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to do the sale one year ... how awesome would that be? :)

Lovin' the SEC and LSU 101

I love SEC football. Pretty much everyone does around these parts! It's said that football is a religion in the South - and it feels that way sometimes!

Me and my peeps are LSU fans. I went to LSU for college and love that place! They put something in the water there that makes us bleed purple and gold!

I'm always curious about the traditions at other schools. Like, how Auburn has three mascots or what some of the schools are cheering during the game. I hope some people will blog about those things!

So, let's get started with my favorite LSU things or "LSU 101"  But, first, let me put on my Tiger Eyes :)

LSU 101:

Tiger Stadium or "Death Valley"

This is the place where you can meet up on a Saturday night with 92,400 of your closest friends.  And, we are LOUD!

Tiger Stadium has been ranked many times as one of the toughest places to play ball because of the noise level.  Lots of false starts happen here.

If we go to an LSU game, I usually can't hear what Big Daddy is saying and he's right next to me.  Crazy!

We spell it GEAUX Tigers! (pronounced "Go Tigers!")

That's our standard cheer and usually one side of the stadium will say "GEAUX" and the other side will answer "TIGERS!"

The spelling GEAUX reflects our french roots.

Mike the Tiger

Here's our awesome mascot!  He comes to the stadium before every game and for every time he roars, LSU will score a touchdown!

The Golden Band from Tigerland

Oh, how we love our band!  Especially when they play the LSU pregame song - that's what you're hearing now!  This is the song you'll hear when they really want to get everyone pumped up!

Update: I changed the playlist so you'll have to click on the songs to get them to play now.  Just in case you know them by heart, now :)

I put Hey Fightin' Tigers and a few others on my playlist, too!

Tailgating

You'll see lots of tailgaters at an LSU game.  The food in South Louisiana is some of the best around, so there are lots of yummy things to eat.

You might find jambalaya

Or, grilled boudin. Yum!

We're gearing up for a big game against Florida on Saturday.  It should be a good one!

Thanks for letting me share some of our Tiger Traditions!

Preschool Mischief

Life with a preschooler is fun!  They are hysterical.  The things that come out of their mouths makes me laugh until my side hurts. I really think Sister makes me laugh harder than anyone I know!

Some of the funniest things happen when the eyes in the back of my head are broken.  Really, the funniest part is usually the explanation.  Like, "Well, I changed Bitty Baby's diaper because she asked me to."  Uh-huh.

Or, one of my favorites happened when Sister wanted a bath in the middle of the day, I said no, and she thought it would be a great idea to go outside and smear dirt on herself!  You know, so she would have to take a bath.  (She didn't get one BTW). I tried to keep my game face on for that one, but ended up taking a pic instead :)

Recently, I got a side splitting laugh when I uploaded some pics and found that Sister had taken a few snapshots herself.  So here's a peek at life from a preschooler's perspective.  Hysterical!

Sister's foot in contraband from my closet - in my most favorite pair of brown patent leather wedge sandals.

Her own sassy pink laptop

Our pup, Gumbeaux, (who is fogging up the window and begging to come in for some cool A/C)

Our other dog, Toby's, "baby."

Now this picture is one I took of preschool mischief.  This happened during one of those, "Little Mama, I thought you were watching Sister. Big Daddy, I thought you were watching Sister moments."

Sister loves my stuff. I love my Chi flat iron.  (If you live in the humid Land of Little Mama, it's a necessity! Ha!) We go round and round.

I stumbled upon this little scene in the living room ...

I think she did a pretty good job.  Oh, and lucky for her, my Chi still works!

Sadly, this picture looks a little too much like my own hair style these days.  It's so hot and humid!  Come on Fall!

That reminds me. I'm going to call now and beg for a last minute salon appointment this weekend. Wish me luck!

Feelin' Better Already

Bitty Baby has been under the weather.  Sunday evening she started running fever out of the blue.  She just wasn't herself and by Monday morning she was feeling pretty crummy.

So, we headed to the doctor, just to get checked out.  When we arrived, I was so surprised at how many people were at the doctor's office.  The parking lot was more than full, so we ended up parking in the very back, the farthest spot from the door!

We were late for our appointment, so I was practically running through the parking lot.  I laughed when I looked down and saw Bitty Baby's chubby baby hand hanging on to her stroller for dear life.  She was white-knuckling it! Ha!

After a quick flu test, our doctor declared she has nothing more than a run of the mill sinus infection.  Yay!  She's feeling so much better today and almost back to her old self.

Bitty Baby loves to wear hats and crowns on her head.  It's her favorite part of dress up!  Tonight, she was so cute, wearing her flower headband during supper.

While I was washing dishes, I heard the cutest baby giggles.  I looked over and saw this ...

Looks like someone was getting a little doggie snack!

I almost told Bitty Baby to stop, but who could resist this face?

The Weekend Update - Tigers and Tea Parties

Geaux Tigers!  Whew, that was a close one ... again.  The Tigers squeaked out another win with a great game against Georgia.  I love when LSU plays other SEC teams ... there's nothing better!

I actually snuck out of the house during the game and ran a couple of errands.   No worries, though!  The games were on in the paint store, oh and the grocery store, oh and in the fabric store, too!

I was a multi-tasking Little Mama - running errands and catching the games all around town at the same time!

I stopped by the fabric store and checked out the remnants rack, which was an additional 30% off the already discounted price. Yay!

I picked up this fabric  for the kitchen

This is my kitchen window - can't you just hear it crying because it's so sad?  (Sniff)

BTW, I can't sew to save my life.  I've been known in a desperate moment to staple my hem and color the staple with a black sharpie.  True story.

I'm so excited because Saturday night I used The Nester's tutorial and "mistreated" my window -- that means no sew, y'all!  I was so nervous that my feet were sweating on the counter :) ... but I think it came out looking pretty good ... even Big Daddy, who was freaked out by the upholstery tacks, was impressed in the end.  More on that & pics to follow another day ...

Sunday it rained all day.  I was hoping it would bring cooler or even "Fallish" weather, but no go.  Just more humidity.

Sunday morning we headed to church and the girls wore dresses from my sweet in-laws.

Sister showing off her nature's treasure - an acorn

Bitty Baby in her sweet dress - but she's saying, "Please, I'm busy people.  I need to get to Sunday School."

Church was really good.  In Sunday School, we're studying the seven deadly sins and the lesson was on envy.  We talked about how envy is not just about material things, but envying qualities in others.  It was also communion Sunday and the sermon was about seeing the light of Christ on the faces of others ... good stuff all the way around!

When we got home, it was pouring down rain.  I had to catch up on my Bible study for that night and decided that I was going to create my own Fall weather.  So, I threw on some sweats, cranked down the AC and made a pot of tea.

I drank out of my Grandmother's Desert Rose tea cup ...  she loved pink and green

While I was enjoying the solitude, Sister came through the dining room, saw the tea and said, "Wouldn't it be lovely if we drank tea together?"

How could I resist? :)
