Show Us Your Life - Wedding Party and Flowers

I'm having so much fun looking at our wedding pictures for Kelly's Korner's Show Us Your Life blog hop. I haven't pulled these out in awhile and I'm so glad I did!

This week, here are pics of our wedding party and flowers. I only posted a pic of my sister, who was my maid-of-honor, since my other friends would probably kill me if I posted their pics on here :).

We were married in the Fall, my favorite time of year, so our wedding had autumn colors. Here's a picture of me with my sister. The bridesmaid dresses were copies of Watters and Watters dresses that I just loved. The sweetest lady make them for us for a third of the price and they were silk, too!

The dresses had wrap-tops that tied in the back and floor length skirts.

I love, love, love flowers, so my Mom and I had so much fun picking these out for our wedding.

Here's what we had on the church pews.

Here are the bridesmaids' bouquets.

They had chocolate or leonidis roses in them, which looked so pretty for Fall.

Here is a pic of the church flowers - we loved the green hydrangeas!

Now, I"m off to take a quick look at some of the other posted pics before my day gets too crazy!

Craftmania - Flower Hooks & Bow Holder

I have been wanting to order these adorable hooks for Sister's room from Land of Nod. I thought these would fun to use for hanging dress-up clothes. But, they are $9.95 each and I'm always on the hunt for a bargain!

I was at one of my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby, and was so excited when I found these wooden flower pegs. They already have the brackets on the back for hanging. With a little paint, I could make these for Sister's room for a lot less. These little pegs were $1.99 each and the paint was on sale for .77 cents a bottle!

Here's a pic of the flowers as I was getting started. I realized after painting the first two, that there is a little screw on the back that lets you take out the peg for easier painting. I ended up taking it out for touch ups at the end, but it really wasn't hard to paint either way.

And, here are the finished hooks - they're still drying so I don't have a pic of them in Sister's room, yet. I think they came out really cute and Sister loves them, too! Plus, the whole project cost less than $10. I have plenty of paint left over to save for other fun ideas, too!

I also picked up a little project for Bitty Baby's room. I thought it was time for her to get her very own bow holder! Bitty Baby doesn't really like bows and won't keep them in her hair. (Oh, how I hope that will change! :) ). The truth is that Sister's bows are taking over and we could really use two holders, now. I thought an initial bow holder would be really cute!

I love harlequin patterns and thought this would be fun in pink and green. Geometry was not my thing in high school, ha! So I've been having a hard time making the diamonds look the same size. Especially, since the initial is kind of topsy turvy. I used a ruler to draw the pattern and then started painting. I think using tape might have made things easier - oh well. Her bow holder will just have a sweet homemade look to it! :)

I hope to finish Bitty Baby's project this weekend and I'll post a pic of the finished product!

Popcorn Movie Night

It's popcorn movie night at Little Mama's house. We try to do this once a week and everyone looks forward to it. Tonight's selection was The Three Lives of Thomasina from our local library. Sister picked it out and I was happy, too! Plus, it's a free rental for 7 days. Score!

I love kids' movies from the 60's and 70s. Some of my favorites are Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Parent Trap, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and now, The Three Lives of Thomasina. Plus, all of these are kid friendly and Little Mama and Daddy approved.

I love this picture of Thomasina dressed up in the baby carriage. She looks very catlike ... i.e. not amused, at all. Ha! I'd consider myself more of a dog person, but Thomasina might sway me to the other side. Don't tell these guys, though!

I do! I do! I do!

I just love Kelly's idea from Kelly's Korner to post about wedding dresses. So, I thought I would join in the fun and "Show You My Life."

We've been married almost 8 years and I still love my dress. I remember knowing it was the "one" as soon as I tried it on.
It was on sale, too, which makes me love it even more :)

Here we are coming out of the church, just after being married!

My dress was made of shantung silk with a bateau neckline. One of my favorite things about it was the inverted pleat on the skirt, with an underskirt peaking through. The beading on the front of the dress went down the center of the bodice and helped me look a bit taller on my wedding day. (With a little help from the insanely high heels I was wearing that day! )

Here we are for formal pics after the ceremony.

I think my favorite part, though, was my veil. It was my mother's and I felt so honored to wear it on my wedding day. She and my dad were married in 1960, so her style was very Grace Kelly. I bought the dress first and was so excited when we pulled out my mom's headpiece and it worked perfectly. We added a little more beading to it to help tie it together with the beading on my dress. And, we added a new veil.

Wouldn't it be neat if one day my girls wore this veil for their weddings, too? I hope we've started a family tradition! Thanks for letting me share some of my wedding memories :)
